Ephesians 6:10-18 says our “battle is not between flesh and blood…but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” We have an enemy. Every opening we leave through bad judgment, lack of preparation or absent time praying will be exploited by our enemy. The one idea clearly presented is that the Devil is after you!
This passage gives us some tips…
- Recognize you are a target and choose the right enemy. Sometimes we blame people, when really its the Devil who is scheming to destroy us.
- Prepare yourself with your lifestyle. Living right means you are less likely to be on the wrong path and end up in the wrong place.
- Equip yourself with defensive weapons. Standing firm, deflect the darts by knowing God’s word the Bible to defuse the lies hurled at you.
- Wield the offensive weapon: PRAYER. Prayer of all kinds its says in this passage. Why limit to just worship or confession? Why not ask God for strength? Why not ask God for anything??
What other tips can you think of to thwart the Devil?

Wow Rich,
You and I are on the exact same path. I am discovering how our spoken words, speaking the Word of God is absolutely essential to spiritual warfare. Psalm 91 and becomming intimately aquinted. Hope to talk with you soon about this.
One of the biggest things God has given us to aid in our fight is the Armor of God talked about in Ephesians 6.
When you are fully equipped, emphasis on fully, with the Armor of God, you can stand up to the attacks thrown at you.
Be equipped with:
Belt of Truth
Breastplate of Righteousness
Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
Shield of Faith
Helmet of Salvation
Sword of the Spirit
I did summarize defensive and offensive which is the list… the offensive we have God’s words (just as Jesus used in the desert when tempted by Satan) and prayer which Jesus modeled often. The defensive are also important. It just seems though that prayer is the nuclear option we often do not take. Instead of praying for defense, we need to pray about our schemes for victory!
