Worship Recap: Cannot believe its a new month and new sermon series already. Today we began a new series about the Sermon on The Mount entitled: “Change.”  We are getting low in the drum area, so I am so grateful for friends in town with Craig of Venture Christian letting us borrow Tyler who did a great job with us today on drums. Talk about generosity and the churches working to help each other. Thanks to Craig and Tyler.

We partook communion today. I got to do the setup. I made two points about it. First, I said we need to find beauty in the act instead of just going through the motions. The sunset is a beautiful thing, but if we reduce it intellectually to something that simply reflects God’s beauty rather than enjoy the sunset, we miss the point. In the same way, communion is an act that reflects the beauty in the sacrifice of love from Jesus to us. We should feel some sort of awe beyond a simple thought of it as symbolic like from a text book. Second, I mentioned how we do this together. So, I encouraged people to talk to each other in confessional tones about how they came today, ready or not. And, I encouraged friends and family to take it together.

Set List: This week, we introduced “I Cling to the Cross” which ends with a traditional refrain from “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.”

  • I Will Boast – Paul Baloche
  • Your Name is Holy – Brian Doerksen
  • Invitation Fountain – Michael J. Pritzl
  • Here I am to Worship – Tim Hughes
  • I Cling to the Cross – Paul Baloche, Matt Redman

How was your worship weekend?

  1. Hey Rich,
I can’t wait to see you tomorrow, we get to meet finally! Funny thing about the sunset – tomorrow’s lesson in the “Pure Praise” devotional that we’re doing over at TheWorshipCommunity.Com talks about the sunset, and asks when the last time you watched it and to write down the details, and thank God for those things, etc.

    See you tomorrow in Nashvegas,
    Fred

“I cling to the cross” works very well at our church. People really seem to like it.

That’s awesome. There’s this underground network of worship musicians in this valley that always trips me out. Sometimes you get a call and you’re like…how did you get my number? But it’s really cool that the churches will do that for each other!

I was there! That is all…
