I have been TAGGED

Mark Waltz tagged me with one of these things that goes around the blogosphere.  So, here is my reading list.

  • One book that changed your life: Dallas Willard's The Divine Conspiracy. (A very hard read for me, but going slow through this book rocked my spiritual world.  Forget cliché Christianity with pat answers.  I won't go back.)
  • One book that you've read more than once: The Purpose Driven Church, Rick Warren  (I think this is he best book, even though more have read his Purpose-Driven Life book.  Imagine a book that changes how church is done, and you have this one.)
  • One book that you'd want on a desert island: PC For Dummies (I would bring this since only Windows machines would be available on a desert island and I have been spoiled by using Macs).
  • One book that made you laugh: Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller  (If you were raised in the church, it will make you laugh, too.)
  • One book that made you cry: Wild at Heart by John Eldredge  (This was a powerful book to read.)
  • One book that you wish had been written:  How the Artists in Your Church Can Change the World:  A book for Pastors. (So far, I wish there was a book that took off that explained to pastors, boards and Christian leaders that we have the next Bono and Michaelangelo sitting in your youth group and here is how to disciple and lead them and send them out!)
  • One book you wish had never been written: Dedication and Leadership, Douglas Hyde (Unbelievable that communist techniques would be applied to church leadership and life-change.  After the Berlin wall fell, Christian leaders who love this book should realize that heart change is the work of the Holy Spirit, not a set of Machiavellian tactics.)
  • One book you are currently reading: The Multi-Site Revolution, by Greg Ligon  (We already have venues and a room we rent offsite, now we might be moving to another city with an extension campus. So, reading this is timely.)
  • One book you've been meaning to read: Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell  (I love this guy, just have not been able to read this book yet.)

And, now this tagging thing means I'm supposed to tag 5 others to post the same information from their library of reading.

Here are the lucky tagees: Brian Petak, Randy Elrod, The Hosh, Pat Calahan and Ben Abu Saada.

love the thoughts on the desert island one. layers and layers of truth in that one.

:)

TAG - I'm it! Yeah... I liked the desert island answer too. As I type this on my Mac whose lithium ion battery is overheating and burning my lap as we speak! :) I'll do my best to honor your tagging.

Much to catch up on. I just posted last night on some pretty crazy changes in my world. Let's connect soon.

Brian, I think MS OS is the devil, but watch out for that battery on your lap!
